Car hire in LA, help understand the rules.

Car hire in LA, help understand the rules.

So I am looking to rent a car for 10 days whilst in LA this summer. I am so confused about how the rental works in USA. I’m from UK and have a return ticket.

I was looking at ACE as its cheapest but it appears there are lots of hidden fees. So I have found sixt that offers no deductible, protection included, and optional peace of mind package

My question really is around the hold on a card. In UK and Europe it’s normally around 1500£/€ it appears the hold in USA is around 200$

In Europe and UK I usually pay excess waivers so I don’t have to pay a deposit at all.

I am trying to figure out with these offers of peace of mind and no deductible packages do they waive the deposit and if not is 200$ the final I have to leave? Or is there any further holds?
