I have a question about coop size

Sorry, I’m sure this question has been asked a million times. I’m getting 11 Brahma chicks in a couple months and I can’t really figure out if the space needed per bird includes the run outside the coop or not. I’m planning to close them in the actual coop building at night, then in the day they’ll mostly be free ranging in my yard and sometimes be closed up in the run if there’s no one home. So is the square footage needed per bird the area needed inside the coop where they sleep? Or does that include the run if they’ll have access to that.
