Would laser make underarm pigmentation worse in darker skin tones?

I've had dark armpits since I was a kid. Never been able to wear sleeveless clothing. I've tried glycolic acid which made it worse; used 5% after a patch test. Metabolic wise, my bloodwork is normal. I limit carbs and my BMI is average. I was considering going for laser hair removal/dark spot removal but keep seeing mixed things on whether it helps or not.
