Approaching indie, value-driven brands directly to model for

I'm 21F, studying in college right now and I've always wanted to do modeling, but never had the time. I'm freer now and will be interning in Mumbai for a couple months soon and decided to give the modeling interest another shot. Instead of agencies though, I want to directly get in touch with brands and designers and work with them [I'm specific about the kind of work I want to associate with in terms of aesthetics and factors like brands being socially and environmentally conscious, artisan-forward, detail-oriented].

I've approached a few now but also would really like for any more brand suggestions or leads or any thoughts even regarding this.
