- Took the Fall of Yugoslavia tour from Meet Bosnia Tour Agency ([30 EUR](x-apple-data-detectors://embedded-result/2277) + Tunnel entrance fee of 10 EUR). Tour takes you to the yellow fortress, near the Olympic stadium and ex front lines, tunnel under the airport, and the bob sled track. Our tour guide was Arna who is probably the most experienced tour guide in Bosnia. She has a wealth of knowledge, and spent years working for non profits around the country. And she is the most thoughtful person. Highly recommended. Good thing to do especially of the weather is bad, mini bus will take you around. (Meet at [10am](x-apple-data-detectors://embedded-result/2778) and it goes [3-4 hours](x-apple-data-detectors://embedded-result/2795))
- Before you go to the bob sled track watch the documentary by Ryan Sidhoo called “the track”. It follows the lives of three young luge athletes (one competed at the Beijing Olympics). One of the main characters Mizra Nikolajev also works as a mountain bike guide. If you are in the US you can watch it on Amazon Prime. The footage of the track is beautiful, the athletes are amazing, it will definitely add another layer when visiting the track.
- Salsa Mondays. Salsa event is on [Monday night](x-apple-data-detectors://embedded-result/569) at Cinema Sloga. Friendly group of people who seem to show up every week. Free bachata lessons [from 10 pm](x-apple-data-detectors://embedded-result/677) if enough people. More bachata songs than salsa, and they dance on 1. I went by myself and a group of people let me join them. I The space is large, no one was smoking when I went. Most people in gym shoes.
- Souvenirs - Kota gift shop had really good reviews so I checked it out. It has general souvenirs, but everything has a price tag, and the guy tending the store was nice. I think that’s why the ratings are so high! Local original street wear store Molimao was more on the high end but nice.
- Transportation
- Food:
- Early spring is unpredictable. It was supposed to be 15C but ended up being -2C and snow/rain for 4 days in a row. We only had summer sneakers, so wore two layers of socks with plastic bag in between and it worked. Bring a rain jacket too. Uniqlo super warm heat-tech did magic.
